For the 5th year, AACO and TAP (Taiwanese American Professionals) will be joining AsianWeek to help out with the volunteer coordination of this massive pan-Asian festival.
The Asian Heritage Street Celebration is the largest gathering of Asian and Pacific Islanders in the nation. The event is family friendly and there will be plenty of great activities throughout the entire day. Some of the features are: children's section, arts and crafts, specialty foods, film shorts inside the Asian Art Museum, healthy living pavilion, two live performance stages, beer booth, and so much more.
AACO and TAP will be handling the Volunteer Coordination and will be staffing the Supervisory Volunteer Coordinators (SVC) area. We are looking for supervisory volunteer coordinators. This position will require someone who will be monitoring several volunteers regarding a particular task (barricade monitors, event monitors, floaters, check-in, etc.) to ensure that volunteer needs and questions are met. The SVC may be required to come to an orientation before the event to get prepped for the position. All SVCs will be linked through a radio headset and will be able to communicate with team members for help. Essentially they will be monitoring their volunteers throughout their shifts and helping our coordinators as needed to make sure the volunteer coordination for the entire festival runs smoothly.
The shifts are:
- 7 AM - 1:00 PM (not 8AM as listed above)
- 12:45 - 7 PM
We also have flexibility with shift times so please indicate your availability when you RSVP with me.
SVC volunteers will get a t-shirt, snacks, meals, and a free parking spot.
Please indicate which shift you would like to help with when signing up!
If you are more interested in a general volunteer (rather than supervisory position), please contact me and I will direct you to the signup link for general volunteers. |

Asian American for Community Involvement (AACI) is organizing its first ever 5k Fun Walk/Run through the Stevens Creek Trail near Shoreline Park to benefit outreach programs at local schools. Over 300 walkers/runners have already registered. In addition, there will be a kids 1-mile run starting at 9:45AM.
AACO is partnering with AACI to organize volunteers to help with post-event course clean up, tear down, and to relieve some early-bird volunteers. We are looking for any number of volunteers to arrive promptly at 9:00AM.
AACI is a community service organization that provides health, recovery, shelter, community and advocacy services to the South Bay and wider San Francisco Bay Area communities. |
